Whenever presidents, officials or authorities are about to make a major decision in America, they uniformly seek answers, advice, and opinions from themselves, other politicians and or from the public. Never is their decision Biblical nor is it a reflection of their knowledge of God’s righteousness.
Day after day we see polls conducted by the news media wherein the opinions and feelings of the populace are tabulated reflecting the general favors of the populace who participate. Even a president’s approval rating is viewed in terms of the percentage of the public who favor the president.
Instead of America polling its citizens for their opinions on various issues, it should seek ordinance from God and from the Bible. It is especially contradictory for those who call themselves Christians to value the opinions of the public over the rules and laws of the God they claim to worship.
The decision of the majority is often a far cry from the decision God has commanded of mankind. The majority in no way has the right to depart either to the left or to the right from the straight path of God’s truths. Integration of God’s laws into society is the fulfillment of a necessary bond between righteous moral church and a righteous morally responsible state.
The desires of the majority of Americans are sometimes prejudiced, usually erroneous and always full of ignorance and impropriety. To say that politicians have the responsibility to serve this majority according to the majority’s will is to resort to the most uncivilized, immoral, ungodly, and problematic neglect of proper governmental duty. The general public is so fickle and untrained in righteousness that it is a job alone just to keep up with all the contradictory evolutions of opinions, and ridiculous to say the least to even attempt to enforce these opinions. But the righteousness of God is ever abiding, and His laws are never grievous to worthy citizens and His justice is consistent, tranquil, harmonious and righteous.
To tell me that the Bible and God’s Laws are outdated or irrelevant is less reasonable than telling me that 5+5=10 is outdated because it has equaled 10 for thousands of years and is therefore irrelevant.
If the majority of influential Americans are in favor of a particular evil, often the evil is made legal. This evil can consist of any of the historic problems proven to be destructive to mankind, such as abortion, homosexuality, or even a systematic slaughter of a group of hated people, similar to Hitler’s. There is no guarantee that the will of the people will be morally sound in the sight of God and good for morally sound citizens. In fact since all people are depraved and because the majority of them are innate enemies to God’s morality there is a guarantee that the leading trend in a society’s viewpoint will be morally incongruent to the perfection of the truths of God.
One may argue with me and say, “Well how do you know what is right?” Go and find out! This is a prime duty of a prudent educational system. I would also like to retort, “How do you know it is right for government to implement the opinions of the majority?” The burgeoning generation of school-age children should receive not only the fundamental facts of natural life such as math, science, English etc. but also the rudimentary facts of proper spiritual development in relation to the morality of God and should be taught the sound behavior taught by God from scripture. College students should receive admonishment to live godly and should be able to be good examples so that they can work diligently not in vanity, but in good moral and legitimate employment.
You may say to me, “There will be differences in opinion about what is right and what is wrong!” So what? This simply proves my point. Humans are blind and incoherent with even each other. Why rely upon their opinions when they are obviously erroneous and heterogeneous rather than the perfect truths of God? Just as society has trained mathematicians, doctors and other experts, it needs people skilled and trained to properly discover the truths of God.
You may say to me, “Stop being a pessimist! I see goodness in every body! The typical law abiding citizen is smart and capable of making choices for his or herself.” Typical shallow thinking. Even if you step off a cliff and fall to your death, you made a choice for your own self….. and it killed you. So don’t tell me that people can make decisions for themselves when history has shown that people make evil decisions and choices that hurt themselves and others and transgresses their own Maker’s Law. Get principled! Follow God’s law! You claim to see goodness in everyone. Do you see goodness in God’s law? I do.
